There are two different types of vacationers out there – those who are all about seeing and doing as much as possible, and those who are looking for a little relaxation. For our second overnight trip of Summer Session II, the group was determined to create a low-key, relaxing and rejuvenating experience while still fitting in some fun experiences! The students selected Camelback Resort, located in the Poconos Mountains, as their destination. There were plenty of resort destinations that the students initially considered, but Camelback seemed to have it all – spacious condos, an indoor and outdoor waterpark, an adventure park, a spa, and plenty of other activities.

On the day of arrival, everyone unpacked and settled into the condo at the resort and then headed out for the lazy river at the indoor waterpark. It was so much fun that the group went on twice! Following the lazy river, everyone split up to explore the park and ride their favorite waterslides. One student was even brave enough to try “Paradise Plunge,” a free-fall body slide with a 60 foot vertical drop!

After spending a feThe College Experience at Camelback-Emilyw hours at the The College Experience at Camelback-arcadepark, the group headed back to the condo for some relaxation before cooking a family-style dinner. The students wisely chose to save money on their trip by choosing a condo with a kitchen, which allowed them to bring food to prepare on their own. Following a leisurely dinner, some of the group chose to venture out to “Polka Dot Pots” a paint your own pottery studio located right on the resort. There were also some other fun things to check out, like the arcade and ice cream shop.

The second day of the trip, students and staff enjoyed a lazy morning with a late breakfast. CEP students tend to have busy, jam-packed days, so sleeping in was a luxury! After some down-time at the condo, the group decided to check out the outdoor water park. The lazy river was a favorite ride once again, and the group also tried out the different chutes and slides.

Following dinner, the group played a round of miniature golf. Then, one student packed in some more fun on the ropes course and the laser tag course while everyone else lounged on oversized leather couches in the lodge’s lobby.

On the final day, the group had breakfast and packed up their things – it was hard to say goodbye to the cozy condo! Some of the group went for a swim at the indoor water park, while everyone else stretched out on the lounge chairs to soak up some final minutes of R&R on their vacation. Another successful trip – kudos to the students who worked meticulously to plan it all out!
