How it Works

The Application Process

  1. Call or email us to learn more about the College Experience Program! Complete our interest form so we know how to contact you.

  2. Come to one of our monthly Interest meetings. Call to find out the date of the next meeting. If you live out of town, we can arrange a day visit.

  3. Schedule a student visit. These occur the fall before a student applies.

  4. Complete the application.

The Application

Upon completion of steps 1-3, students may independently complete an application.

It consists of:

  • Application questions

  • Essay explaining why you would like to be part of the College Experience Program

  • Recommendation forms - completed by two professionals (teacher, work supervisor, service coordinator, job coach)

  • Parent assessment form

  • Supporting documents such as an IEP, ISP, psychological evaluation

The Interview Process

Students have until January 31st to submit an application for the fall semester. Applications are reviewed starting February 1st.

Qualified students will be offered an interview. These interviews will occur in March. Both students and parents will be interviewed. A reading and writing sample will be requested during the interview.

The interview committee will recommend students for a second interview. These students will meet individually with the Dean of the School of Education. The final decision is made by the College of Saint Rose.
