Making Friends

Students at dinner. True independence starts for our students when they move out of their family home and into a residence with others. Conveniently located to campus and local businesses, independence can increase in transportation, shopping, self-advocacy and community integration. Located near multiple bus lines, students are free to visit attractions in the Capital Region. Living with housemates allows students the opportunity to improve their skills in communication, problem solving and conflict resolution.

Living Arrangements

Three off-campus residences house our freshmen and senior students. Freshman and seniors live together in groups of 3-4 and learn to share the responsibilities of off-campus living. Seniors act as mentors to our freshman and assist them in many meaningful ways.

Supportive Presence

College of Saint Rose Resident Advisors and Living Resources Resident Instructors are on hand to teach independent living skills in the natural environment. Students of the College Experience Program determine individual goals and staff assists in meeting these goals. With the help of Residence Instructors and Resident Advisors, students acquire skills necessary for apartment living.
